My friends at Large, the agency behind the extremely sexy Agent Provocateur website, have a designed a new logo and colour scheme for cybersoc.com. The problem is, I can’t decide between the two so thought I’d let you help me. Below are the two logos and screen shots showing how they’ll actually look on the page once the colour scheme has been altered. I’ve also included what Rene, Design Director at Large, had to say about each design. Over to you… please post your comments below :-))
Rene’s Introduction: ‘Community’ is one of the biggest keywords in the identity. The elements left of the banner therefore symbolize people/groups/subjects coming together. The banner will be animated, so the bricks come together, creating a solid colour bar. The strapline ‘online since 96’ is the final frame of a longer strapline: ‘online community management’, ‘research of life online’ and ‘internet law’ comes in first.
Banner/Scheme 1: grey bar with straight bricks coming together left of the bar
One brick is in a different colour, which can symbolize yourself in the community, or simply some kind of unique factor to your service. The typeface is circular, emphasizing on the circular letters in the word cybersoc.com. The ‘y’ and ‘b’ have been modified to create unpractical and beautiful alignment for the animated strapline just below (and the main body text further down).
Banner/Scheme 2: green bar with a diagonal cut
As in route 1, the bricks and strapline will be animated. The font is heavy and has been modified, so ‘y’ and ‘b’ creates a unique shape similar to the figures ‘9’ and ‘6’. It’s now clear that your site has been online since 96.
if i had to choose, i would go for number 2, i just dont like the gray squareness of number 1
I prefer the second design, as it keeps in with your current green theme – evolutionary not revolutionary ;-)
Definitely second one… :D
Nice design.
I second Patholio’s comments. Option#2 is better imho.
