Brand Republic, a stand-alone media and advertising industry news site owned by haymarket , and which also provides an online home for Campaign and Marketing magazines, is looking for a community editor:
This new role will give someone the opportunity to develop and expand the site’s community content and activity. It is a pivotal position as the site is about to be redeveloped and redesigned to incorporate up to 14 separate magazine web sites, with a focus on web 2.0 content and community opportunities. It will involve setting up a new series of forums and providing platforms for the many marketing, media and digital communities that Brand Republic caters for, both in the UK and elsewhere.
The successful applicant will be able to show that they understand the psychology and technology involved in running online communities and will need an editorial background. The successful applicant will know how to grow vibrant communities and stimulate healthy debate online about the subjects that matter to those communities. A key aspect of the role will be the management of user generated content, and a network of bloggers, so there will be a strong proofing and checking element to the job as well as seeding community debate and encouraging interaction. A good knowledge of media legal issues is also essential.
Haymarket got their job advertisement spot on so it will be interesting what comes out of it. If you apply, and get the job, after spotting it first here my current preference is for Spanish Red – one to two bottles please, depending on what salary you land.
In related news, it looks like magazines (see related recent post) are taking notice of online community: Elle publisher Hachette Filipacchi has poached Dave Killeen, Associated Northcliffe Digital’s general manager, as their director of digital. I know Dave from when he was heading up the community team at Associated. Best of luck!
