Manchester City Council is consulting the public about a bid they hope to make for Government funding to build Europe’s largest wifi hotspot – a whopping 400 square miles worth of wire free internet access.
Sounds great to me but it’s got me wondering about the possible effect of city-wide wifi internet access on for bloggers. Whilst it’s fairly certain that wifi everywhere will make it possible to blog from more places, and that this may very well increase post frequency because of this, it might also change the content, introduce new people to blogging, and cause a run on laptops with built in wifi. Or at least those are some of the things it could do.
We’re discussing this over on the BBC Manchester blog if you wish to join us…
